The president of the Avon Peninsula Watershed Preservation Society is warning people about a telephone poll asking if they're for or against an expansion of the Fundy Gypsum mine near Windsor.

Raymond Parker says the person conducting the poll isn't clear about who they're representing and is asking very personal information such as what they pay in property taxes and what their annual income is.

He says it's disturbing that people are being polled when they may not have had a chance to review information, without fair public debate and even before an environmental assessment is called for.

Parker says regardless of the outcome, that means the results will be automatically suspect.
